B1 cars: safe, affordable, practical for teenagers and families

Although B1 category cars have been popular in Europe for a long time (especially in France and Italy), in Lithuania they are still a novelty. Because of this, there are many myths about them. It's time to deny them.
Reality:45 km/h is enough for daily routes in the city. Traffic rules limit speeds to 30 or 50 km/h in many places, so the B1 car complies with these limits.
Many young drivers drive to school, clubs or friends — all within the city limits. The trip may take a little longer, but it will be safer.
Reality:prices range from 11 to 25 thousand euros for a new model. However, it is necessary to look at the long-term perspective:
Compared to a scooter or motorcycle, the B1 car costs more, but provides significantly more safety.
Reality:they are safer than scooters. B1 cars have seat belts, an enclosed cab, four wheels, stability and limited speed. In many European countries, they are considered a safer alternative for teenagers than a bicycle or scooter.
Reality:on the contrary, many young people who start driving a B1 car use it for two or three years until they reach adulthood. In addition, in the family, it is also often adapted to the short daily trips of the parents.
